The best racing game, and most unique idea for a game, on Super Nintendo was Super Mario Kart. You could battle it out with another friend or race them till they actually beat you. Well, there is finally an actual sequel to it. Now on the GameBoy Advance you can get Mario Kart: Super Circuit. With all new tracks, new weapons from Mario Kart 64, and the Nintendo characters you love, you can race to your hearts content and even link up with your friends.
This game has the great action of the old Grand-Prix. You race through a whopping 20 tracks, and a few hidden ones too. Well, I'm not doing the hidden tracks justice by saying a few. Remember those tracks from Super Mario Kart? Of course you do. Every single track from that game is on this. Its just a matter of unlocking it. You start with the Mushroom Cup, then the Flower Cup, after that is the Lightning Cup, followed by the infamous Star Cup, and lastly the Special Cup. Now, as you progress through the tracks, you have 3 goals. Get first, Whomp on your opponents, and Collect as many coins as possible. If you finish in the top four, and collect at least 100 coins in each cup in each cc difficulty, you will unlock the hidden tracks. Now, this is a very good thing to try to do, because then you will have twice as many tracks as you did. There is also Time-Attack, where you race against the clock, and Quick Race, where you race against AI controlled racers with weapons added in.
Now I think its a good time to talk about the weapons. The weapons include the Spiny Shell, the Green Shell, the Red Shell, the Banana, the Star, the Mushroom, Boo, Lightning, Triple Green Shells, and Triple Red Shells. The Spiny Shell as you Mario Kart 64 players know, goes through the course and destroys anything in its path until it gets to the person in 1st place, which it proceeds to destroy them too. Then there is the Green Shell that shoots straight forward, and which you can shoot backward. The banana you can lay behind you to make opponents slip, or you can throw it in front of you. The star makes you invincible, and the Mushroom gives you a burst of speed. Boo steals an item from a player and it slows down the person in first. The lightning causes all players but yourself to get very small, slowing them down and making you able to crush them. The triple shells just give you three of whatever shell it is.
I will now address the Multiplayer. You can link-up with up to 4 people with one game-pak, and play races in one of four tracks, where you are all different colors of Yoshis. With two game-paks you can do a Mario GP. With four game-paks you can to Vs. racing with any player and any course that is unlocked, and you can also do battle on one of four battle courses with any player you would like.
This game is great. I highly suggest getting it if you are a Mario Kart Fan. I give this game an 8 out of 10. This is solely because I would liked to have seen battle as a one-player option, with AI opponents. But, still, this game is a very good game that I highly recommend.
